Halong Bay is probably one of the most spectacular places to see in Asia. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to hundreds of unspoiled islands, rising sharply from a gentle bay. The best way to see Halong is on an overnight trip from Hanoi. We have two different Hanoi programs that make a two-day journey to Halong and include
cruising for two half days or more aboard a private boat. If you are short of time we offer Hanoi as a day trip with a full afternoon of cruising.
This trip requires an early start, which allows you to enjoy colorful Hanoi coming to life. The drive to Halong is about three hours by modern highway, including a rest stop. Arrive in Halong City in time for lunch. Afterwards, board your large, comfortable boat for an afternoon exploring Halong Bay. Where you go and what you do is mostly up to you. Several of the islands have caves that some people enjoy visiting. If you are a photographer, you may want to head towards one of the bay's floating villages. In good weather, you can stop in a secluded bay for a swim. Or if you are feeling lazy, one of the best ways to enjoy Halong is on a cruise to nowhere. Settle into comfy deck chair and watch the scenery slip by silently. Ahhh. This has to be one of the most relaxing places on Earth.
Just before sunset you return to shore for your drive back to Hanoi, arriving in time for a late supper or night on the town.
