Day One: Get Acquainted with Bangkok
Welcome to the Big Mango, Thailand's City of Angels! Private transportation from the airport to your hotel. If you arrive early, drop by our office for up-to-date information about the latest things to do and see. Late arrivals may enjoy venturing out to sample the cool evening flavors to explore the city's legendary nightlife on your own.
Day Two: Bangkok By Day and By Night
Today you have one of our legendary private English-speaking Thai guides from 10:00 to 22:00 to see and enjoy what interests you most. If you want to see the most important historic and cultural sites, you should include a trip by boat on the River of Kings to visit the Grand Palace, and nearby golden Reclining Buddha at Wat Po, the architectural treasures of The National Museum, a market of magic amulet traders, or perhaps the antique home of the famous gay silk baron Jim Thompson. Late in the day you might enjoy a bit of steam in the Hanging Gardens of one of the world's great health emporiums for men. Later, our guide introduces you to Bangkok after dark as you explore the city's legendary gay nightlife.
Day Three: Peddle Chinatown to Samut Prakan
Today's two-wheeled adventure shows you Bangkok sights that most visitors do not expect and few get to see.
After a briefing at the starting point you can choose between mountain bikes, hybrid bikes (regular bicycles with mountain bike tires), or regular bicycles of different sizes for the one that fits you best.
You and your bike tour leader explore a unique part of Bangkok's Chinatown. You will see a large fresh market, Chinese temple, and the daily patterns of life in one of the city's oldest neighborhoods.
After you cross the river by ferry you continue to nearby Samut Prakan, home to jackfruit and coconut orchards and plantations practically within sight of Bangkok's skyscrapers. Life is unhurried here and the landscape is lush, tropical and green. As you ride along the klongs (canals) that are still used to get from place to place you will see modern mansions side by side with traditional wooden houses on stilts, fields of rice, fish ponds and happy children waving hello.
The exact itinerary varies from guide to guide. Groups are small, with one guide leading the way and another at the rear. Small groups take different routes so they do not end up in the same places at the same time. However, it is certain that you will travel on one or more small boats as well as the city's SkyTrain elevated rail system, and enjoy a great lunch.
If a full day sounds like too much, just let us know. We can substitute a half day bike trip that covers less territory but still includes plenty of unique sights and sounds. We need to know in advance, please.
Day Four: Fly Through the Treetops
