The Champey Inn is Kep's best hotel. Charmingly-decorated individual bungalows encircle a beautiful pool and overlook the beach market and Gulf of Thailand. The national forest behind the hotel is full of birds. Sunsets from the pool area are spectacular. The hotel has its own restaurant and the food is superb. Bungalows are not air conditioned as there is usually a gentle breeze from the ocean. Individual shower facilities are outdoors in walled enclosures next to each bungalow. There is no electricity (although this should change before June 2005). The generator and the lights go on at 18:00. Attractive staff come from around Cambodia. The wonderful hospitality offered at Champey Inn more than make up for the unavoidable limitations of a small hotel in an undeveloped corner of Cambodia.
